I am a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and Therapist, with a Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Essex. Alongside my therapeutic work, I bring more than a decade of experience working with children and adults with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, trauma and complex emotional needs.
I have extensive experience as a teacher, have worked in adult and children’s residential care, and currently help to run a children’s home supporting young people with complex needs. I also work therapeutically with children and families through Transforming Autism and have my own private counselling practice.
My psychodynamic training encourages me to look beyond what is immediately visible and to wonder about what might be happening underneath. When working with autistic children and their families, however, I do not believe that everything needs to be interpreted or “fixed”. Sometimes we need to slow down, observe, play, listen and allow the child to show us their world rather than expecting them to fit neatly into ours.
I particularly enjoy working alongside parents. Parenting an autistic child can bring enormous love and joy, but also uncertainty, exhaustion and questions that do not always have simple answers. I create a thoughtful, non-judgemental space where we can be curious together about the child, the relationships around them, and what might help connection grow.
Originally from Lithuania, I have lived and worked in the UK for many years and speak English, Lithuanian and Russian. This has also shaped my sensitivity to culture, language, belonging and the many different ways families understand their children and themselves.
