Confident Autism Parenting

Confident Parenting Workshops

Transforming Autism is dedicated to helping parents of Autistic children feel confident to do their very best for their child and to build a rewarding relationship with them whatever the challenges might be.

Following on from the success of our flagship intensive in-home First Steps programme, we’re now delivering ‘Confident Parenting Workshops’ for parents and carers of children up to the age of 12.

How do they work?

In each group, the parents or carers of up to 10 children from across the UK come together by video-conference for 75 minutes each week for a 11-week course with one of our Senior Therapists and one of our Occupational Therapists.

Learn how to optimally manage many of the key areas, including:

  • Behaviour
  • Sleep
  • Relationships with the family
  • Social Interactions
  • Eating
  • Play
  • Sensory Processing
  • Understanding the early signs of autism

Each programme will be tailored to the needs of the group, and after each session, there’ll be ideas and suggestions to implement at home before the next session.  A lot of the learning will be from each other, as the group learns about what has and has not worked for the other members.

By the end of the programme, you should be experiencing the following:

 
  • A closer stronger relationship with your Autistic child
  • A better understanding of your child
  • The confidence to continue to build of these foundations independently
  • A child who feels more content, less stressed and safer in their environment

We welcome families with Autistic children (diagnosed or suspected) up to the age of 12 to apply below to join one of these groups.

There is no charge for this programme however donations are welcome if affordable. The cost of running this service per family is 300GBP.
