Role Profile: Delivery Leaders

The Transforming Autism Project is seeking volunteers to join our team as  Delivery Leaders.

Our Organisation

The Transforming Autism Project is a brand-new charity focusing on very early intervention for children with autism with a view to making transformative life-long changes that would not be possible later.  We challenge the traditional understanding of autism and propose an inspiring, hopeful and truly empowering perspective.  For more details, see our TED talk.

We are planning a revolutionary new early intervention autism clinic based on Israel’s pioneering Mifne Centre (see one family’s story here), and also a comprehensive online Hub of resources and inspiration for parents and carers of autistic children.

To find out more about our goals, values and activities, please view our brochure.

Although we are currently new and very small, we will need to grow quickly in order to make progress towards our large-scale goals.  We are therefore – through our wonderful volunteers – building a strong professional team so that we can put the infrastructure in place to have the scope to generate and cope with rapid growth.

Role Purpose

We need to be working to turn our vision for the Clinic and the Hub into a reality.

We have very basic high-level plans for each of these, which need to be developed, scoped and implemented.

As a brand new organisation, and one whose team is 100% voluntary, part of this task will be to understand and create the frameworks in which these projects can become successful, as well as identifying any requirements or other considerations that might have been missed.  This is likely to involve pro-active research into what is involved to deliver in these areas

In short, we need to get to a place where we feel confident that we know that each can be delivered, how it can be delivered, in what timescales it can realistically be delivered, and what specific and realistic finances and resources will be required to deliver it.

The purpose of this role is to create this scope in a robust form, and to help us develop a strategy to be able to deliver.  You may then help us to acquire, organise and lead the resources to ensure a successful implementation.

The Person

You will be passionate about the change we are trying to make and their impact in the world of autistic children.  You may even be (or be related to) the parent of an autistic child.

You will be a natural at making things happen and possess the confidence, positivity and determination to bring the Clinic and the Hub into existence.  You may also choose to focus on just one of these two deliverables if you feel you have more to bring to one or the other.

You will have strong experience of projects similar to at least one of our key ones, and this will likely be in the Not for Profit sector.  Ideally, you will also have overseen a portfolio of projects run by others and have a strong network that can help us to move ours forward.

We are a strongly values-driven organisation, and are committed to manifesting our values in how we relate to each other, in what we are trying to achieve and in how we do it.  You will be in complete resonance with these and dedicated to bringing them into all of your work and interactions.

How Many Hours?

This is flexible and can be discussed, however for a key role such as this, our experience is that it requires at a minimum at least 8-10 hours or so spread through the week.

The Transforming Autism Project is dedicated to helping create a world where all people are valued and treated according to their inner essential humanity rather than according to the many labels that each of us could wear (or that could be attached to us). We are thus naturally an equal opportunities organisation.
